I am having problems with rear axle seals leaking axle grease onto the rear brake shoes.I have replaced them along with the shoes about every six months and this is starting to cost a small fortune.the hubs are clean and smooth,no grooves in them and I lightly polish them with 500 grit emery cloth and lube them before installation but they still leak after about six months. The rear-end is a 14 bolt 10 1/2 ring gear full floater in a 1996 Sierra 2500 4x4 8600 GVW.Any suggestions?

i was having the same problem with mine. every time i changed the left wheel seal it would always start leaking again. i was told to try the diff vent to make sure it not plugged. If it is it will cause pressure to build up in the diff as it heats up and it will blow those seals.

Thats a very good suggestion. The same can happen when the PCV valve cloggs up on a gasoline engine. It will blow out and front and rear crank seals.
