Hello all. I have discovered that my problem is a bad Ignition switch. Irf I run a jumper wire from the power sie of the battery to the Fuse "14" gauges on the inside of my truck I can get everything to work and start the truck. As soon as I remove the jumper the truck turns off. Was thinking of putting a jumper and a switch so that I can use my truck until I get paid next week so that i can buy the ignition switch.

Does anyone see a downfall to this? Am I asking for more problems or will I be alright? Would I be affecting something else?

not sure what this would do, if it seems ok id think it would be ok. Just bought me a new ign switch for my 93 and it was $17 from napa, they had it in stock.

i wish mine was that cheap. On the 95, the ignition switch is attached to a wire harness that runs up the steering colum up to the cylinder. Apperrently it is one complete unit that sales for $114.00 at Autozone. That was the cheapest I have found it so far. If anyone else knows where I can get it cheaper let me know!

HOLY COW at that rate, i wouldnt put an auto zone pice of junk on it. I hate zone electrical parts. batteries seem to be good, but the other stuff sucks. Sorry to hear how much it costs ya for yours. Not sure what parts stores you have around. I keep hearin about all the stuff you can find on nascar.com, parts stores, shops and such. maybe search for it on there. Good luck

Checked around and the zone is the cheapest even though I hate them too. o'riellys wants $127 Pepboys says its a dealer item only, Dealer wants $203. Napa here said they don't have it. Advanced auto parts says they have it for $144....Saw one on E-bay for $84.00 but not sure about buying it there.

ACDelco Switch, Ignition & Start

Part Number: D1481C

Thats the POS that the 95 Chevy Burb uses.

P.s. Thanks for the nascar.com website i'll check it out.

At LMC-Truck the 1995 switch is 150 $ and models until 1994 is 20 $ ??????
The easies way to bypass is the check witch wire at the switch is hot with 12V from the battery and witch one is hot while ignition on and which is hot for cranking from the switch after turning the key. If you connect the igniton "ON" cable with a toggle switch and the ohter cable with a push button switch, it should work.

Do you have a haynes manual ? There you can find the wiring diagramm in.
I have to check mine and if i find something about the colors, i will post here.

my harness has lots and lots of wires, not simple like they use to be. So i bypassed the one wire, truck ran good for a day, then the transmission stopped shifting. Turns out its not getting power now. So I start with the wires and it works, then it don't, So something tells me that weather I want to or not I need to buy the switch. So I'll be buying a switch here real soon.

Finnally after a month, i decided I couldn't be without my truck anymore. Took it to Mexico and got it fixed at an auto electric shop. Cost of part and labor was $120 total!!!!! I was happy.....Took the guy about 3 hours to do everything.
