when i start the truck in the morning there is white smoke and i rev it up a bit and it clears up ,replaced the replaced the cold start solinoid on the side of the pump in april but the mech forgot to change the diode that goes in where you plug the wires in ,wondering if that could have harmed the solinoid ,also when he got the old one out he slamed it on the ground could that of hurt the diode , thanks

White smoke is diesel that isnt burned but has gotten warm, almost to the point of combustion. It sounds to me like the glow plugs arent all working, or arent all working right, or maybe they just arent working at all. Maybe the glow plug relay is bad. If it smokes white smoke while you're cranking then the glow plugs definantly have an issue. Bad ground/connection, one or more failed glow plugs, or bad glow plug relay.

Have you checked the glow plugs themselves?
