What kind of batteries do you guys recommend?

Are the optima worth the extra money?

I think Optima batteries have discussed at length in the chassis electrical section. Type in "optima" in the search area of this forum.

I use Interstate batteries and always replace both at the same time.

I debated over Optimas for quite a while. I wound up getting a set of Continental batteries from the local feed store. Got both batteries for just a bit more than what one Optima cost. Also made enough cables to get away from those silly little factory side terminals. That will make the biggest change in the long run.

I use two of the big walmart everstart maxxx 1000cca/900cca batteries. The ones in my truck now are no good, but theyre 5 years old. I have had problems getting these batteries to last in other vehicles, but they always go bad before the free 3 year replacement time period is up. But even then they only seem to have problems if you run them up and down too many times.

I found that the small high output batteries lasted about 12 months so went to oversized low current ones and get about 4 years out of them.

I have two optima batteries in my truck. It was an easy decision after taking a several year old optima out of a backhoe and putting it in my boat. still works perfectly two years later. run it down and comes right back. I will use them in everything i own. One thing i like is no acid or water level to check. When ice fishing i dont worry about my batteries freezing. just go out teh next morning, cycle the plugs twice and start it up. usually takes a few tries and the batteries dont even seem to be getting any weaker, never had the batteries die

I got two Exxide Maxima 900 in my truck. Both are about 10 years old and they still are putting more cca out as on the sticker on top of the batteries is said.

should -> 800cca.

is -> 885cca. and 915 cca.

So i if i would need new batteries, i only would buy the same Exxide Maxxima 900 again.

OK, one more question.

I am looking to get Exide batteries. Am I better off with the deep cycle or not? (orbital or nascar)

Thanks for the advice.

Okay, north from Lynchburg and west from Richmond. Around 7500 kilometers from my location in europe, germany, lower saxony, hannover.

Glad to hear, that your are satiesfied with them. I love them in my truck and i never will buy another brand at the time, i need new ones. As my alternator went bad, at this moment i did no know if one or both batteries failed or if the alternator was the problem. So for battery testing i hab to remove the connection of both batteries and i decided to try if one batt is enough to turn the engine over and start. Outside temp was about 20° celsius and after normal glowing the engine runs at the first attempt. Than checked each battery alone and they were better than new as the tester stated. As a result, i replaced the alternator and had a look inside the old one. No "charcoals", no amps ! Now i got between 14,4 and 14,7 volts, while engine running.
