Does anybody know what ratio I should use for a fuel/oil mix for lubrication? I currently use a additive and I found that this works well with the new low sulfer fuel out there. The engine made lots of noise before I started using it and it is pretty quit on that aspect but anything else that I can do or use to help the engine is a bonus. Your help is appreciated.

Hi Tazz !

You should put about an half litre of semi-synthethic 2-stroke oil in a full 26 gal. tank or about one litre in a 34 gal. tank.

2-stroke oil is made für lubricating the engine from the inside and will burn without any rest instead of simple motoroil.

That's right Garth, but 2-stroke oil IS made for burning with the fuel and for lubrication. In germany the diesel driver uses the 2-stroke oil since a long time and it is much cheaper than these expensive additives that you can buy.

I have to pay for one quart of fuel additive from stanadyne, wynn's or an equal about 5-10 bucks. For one quart of semi-synth 2-stroke oil i only pay 1-2 bucks and it works / effects the same or in my opinion better.

Do you think running 2 stroke is better than running the additive from Standyne.

How often are yall adding the oil? Every tank?

Do you think running 2 stroke is better than running the additive from Standyne.

In germany every taxi is a diesel. If you ask them, especially the newer commonrail diesel driver, more than 90% add every tank 2-stroke oil, because we've got ultra low sulfur diesel since about 5 or 6 years.

There are many motocross bikes that runs a 2-stroke engine which raise high rpm's, so what lubricate such an engine from the inside couldn't be bad for IP and injectors of a diesel engine. This oil is especially deisgned to burn in the engine without any ash because of it's additives. Normal motoroil contains additives that or not made for burning because this oil should save your engine and don't burn while lubricating /running.

Yeah, every tank. I bought a 25 litre conainer here, if i put about 0,5 litres in every 26 gal. tank, it should last about 50 tanks. Every tank is about 600 kilometers here, so round about 30.000 kilometer which should be about 18600 miles.

Sounds like it could get costly but whatever saves me a headache and money in the long run. Ive had my truck a little less than a month and Ive already put over 3000 miles on it. Im out of town almost every weekend.

If i understand it, you think about, where to carry the oil, if you drive a longer distance ? I got a 1 litre bottle of 2-stroke oil in the truck and if i fill up the tank i take the bottle and fill about the half into the 26gal. tank. So it last for two (1200 km -> 750 miles) fill up. When i'm back home i fill up the bottle. If I drive far than this milage from home i'll take another bottle with.

Storage isnt the problem. I keep a liter of lucas injector cleaner/fuel conditioner in my tool box. I add it every other tank. The problem is that I pay $5.50 for a 12oz (.3549liter) bottle of 2 stroke oil for my dirt bike. That adds up when you add a liter to every tank! I just need to look for a bigger bottle of cheaper 2 stroke oil I guess. Im still gonna use the good stuff for my bike though.:D

Okay, now i got it. In germany you pay for 1 liter 2-stroke oil about 5 Euro (should be 3 $). If you buay a bigger amount it is cheaper per liter. That is much cheaper than any fuel conditioner that you can buy here.

As i've been 2004 to florida the gas prices are about 1 Euro per liter regular. Here you have to pay about 2-2,20 Euro per liter for regular gas and diesel is cheaper than gas. So i thought 2-stroke-oil could be cheaper as here or the same price. What do you have to pay for fuel conditioner in the US ?

diesel is higher than gas over here. I average pay around $2.59gal. Sometimes less, sometimes more. It never stays the same price for more than a week. I pay like $13 for the lucas cleaner/conditioner which lasts me about 6-8 tanks when I use it every other tank. I just pour a little in every other tank, dont really measure it.

13 $ per bottle for average 7 tanks = about 2 $ per tank = 1,50 Euro

That is much cheaper than the 2-stroke oil. I think if a fuel conditioner would cost the same in germany as to you, the most diesel driver would use it instead of 2-stroke oil.

This should be a nice price :
