I've been reading the threads, but still have some questions about my stock 1995 Suburban 2500 (115k) that I hope the collective wisdom here could help with.
1) Engine vibration at shut down - engine shudders when I turn it off. How much shudder/vibration at shut down is normal? I'm talking about 1 second as the crank and everything wind down. My concern are the motor mounts.
2) Vibration at 65-70mph- seems to be front end, can't tell if it's driveline related, suspension or something else. I'm an old VW Syncro guy, and in those vehicles the driveshafts were notorious for going out of balance. I've read about the U-joints and shafts in 6.5 vehicles needing attention. Funny thing is that on certain stretches of highway where pavement is really smooth, the vibration doesn't occur which has me believe it might be suspension related. Tires are balanced, but worn. Shocks are stock, ride height is perfect though.
3) Brakes- strong pull to the right when braking. Stuck caliper? Plugged line? Booster issue? Pads are worn pretty evenly.
4) Whine in engine bay- sounds like a gear drive. Power steering and brake issue could be related because of the booster, yes? Not the typical power steering unit whine thought. Just put a now belt on and the noise disappeared for a day or two until the new belt stretched out. I'll be putting in a '97 cooling upgrade kit from SSD this week, so hopefully I can figure things out. That noise is just bugging the heck out of me.
Thanks for any help in advance.
