If you put new 60G plugs in, they need more time to get hot enough. You can put a manual override on the controller and heat them up a bit longer.

If you do a manual over ride on the glow plugs be very careful!! You can burn them without caution, and quickly. How do I know??? :( :( :(

I know little of glow plugs......... but am learning. Not even sure what I have in there. They came with the new long block.

Please explain the difference between the two. Thanks

I don't know the exact differences/specifications, but the 11g CAN swell out if they are too long heated. The 60g can heat for hours and the WON'T swell out. I believe that their resistance is so big, that this can't happen. This is also the reason, why you should convert to a manual glow plug controller, because the OEM one won't heat them long enough too start at low temperatures. The 60g's are also the one which the army uses in their hummers.

Note :
"... overheating, melting, and swelling as was common with 9 and 11g's ..."

"... 60g's which have to high a resistance and cause hard cold starting ..."

"... 11g's are stock on the 6.5TD engines ..."
