I have spoke to some about the engine code that I am getting on my truck, it is 36, pulse injection width too long. The last time I got this code I was also having some hard starting and cutting out issues. It was the PMD, now I'm getting the same code with no other symtoms, are they going to come later? I was wondering if worn out injectors could have anything to do with this. My truck has 118,000 miles on factory injectors, but seems to be running and starting fine. What gives?

The injection pump will cause this. Theoretically it should be smoking or something because if the pulse width is too long its spraying fuel longer, where as if it was too short, it wouldnt be spraying enough. There are probably other causes of this code, but off the top of my head the injection pump going bad is all i can think. Maybe its just the fuel solenoid itself going bad i dont know. PMD's dont (usually) cause a code, but they can. Might try another pmd, it cheaper than an injection pump. And youd have a spare in case it isnt the pmd.

I have had a 35 off and on for a couple years. What I do is dump about a half quart of clean Rotella in the fuel tank. Code goes away for quite a long time. No running issues at all. I use Howes additive pretty regularly too, but the oil takes care of the 36.

I use standadyne fuel conditioner in every tank, does that make any difference.

Don't know if it makes a difference, but in my opinion you should NOT use any kind of engine oil (new or not equal whick brand) ! Engine oil is for lubrication, but not for burning ! ONLY use 2-stroke-oil ! This oil is made for lubrication AND for burning. I run about 1 quart in every full tank (short bed ~ 98 liters). You should give that a try and wait if the code comes back after clearing it. Could also be a bad PMD and /or IP but in my opinion i think the bad PMD is more possible.
