I just got a code reader from Walt. Plugged it in and got -1- and -2-. What do these codes mean?

Also, the manual says that after four repetitions the code reader should clear. Mine just keeps giving me the "launch...1...2...---- over and over. How do I clear it?

Recently replaced glow plugs and controller, cdr valve, PMD heatsync, and induction kit. Also just got marine injectors. I'm going to get them in ASAP. I have 148,700 miles and I'm getting about 11 mpg unloaded. I'm glad I found this site.

Thanks for the help with the code reader.

what year is your truck?
code 12 is normal its telling you its OK
to clear a code on 94 & 95 turn on the ignition and push the brake and throttle to the floor for about 15 seconds then release
Check FAQ on Walts website ssdieselsupply.com

It is a 1997 Silverado 1500. Is a "1" and a "2" with a pause in between actually a "12"?

Any ideas how to clear the code reader?

Thanks

a number 1 will be a "long" flash, and a "2" will be two short flashes with a short pause in between. then a long pause, then the same thing over, 3 times, then its on to the next code. it there is no other codes it will keep repeating code 12 indefinantly. Code 12 is NOT a fault code. Its simply telling you the computer is working, and that there are no fault codes stored. This is for the OBD 1 vehicles tho. Id assume OBD2 is similar.
