I'm still learning about my 6.5, I've had the bad key switch, and PMD problems and still have not given up yet, these are all fixed now. She wouldn't start the other day at 50 degrees and I was at a loss as to why. I bought new glow plugs from SSDiesel supply and installed six of them. Please sombody tell me that I can change the center two glow plugs on the passenger side without pulling the turbo, is there a secret to this or am I just in for a fun weekend. She fired up this morning very quick at 36 degrees, with much less effort but I really want to change the center two and have them all matched.

I got those on my truck by taking off the wheel and the inner fender mud flap and reaching up from inside the wheel well.:)

Thanks Oldsmoke, I'll try that this weekend. I really didn't like the looks of removing the turbo and whatever else.

Thanks...:D

I've done it twice. Both times I removed the exhaust down pipe, heat shield and went at it from the bottom side.

Same deal with me a few weeks ago. I pulled the fender well and had to un-clamp the down pipe, loosen my exhaust clamps, and rotate the down pipe away from the engine. I was able to use long nose pliers to get the connections off and back on. Removing the heat shield is probably better but mine looked awful rusted so I chose to leave them alone. If you go my way, be careful cause the plastic connections are brittle from the heat. I guess I should have replaced them:( but I didn't.
Good luck

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped answer my questions about the glow plugs. I've gone from a truck that had trouble starting at 50 degree's to one that started yesterday at 6 degree's. The SS Diesel plugs stay on longer than they used to but who cares, I would rather wait longer and have the truck start then to get a ride to work in the wife's minivan...

I took out the inner fender, turbo, down tube and the factory metal shields so as to change the injectors and glow plugs. All work done thru the inner fender area that way I was sure everthing was done correctly. Oh, by the way I bought a new inner fender and installed it figuring sooner or later I will need to go in there again.
