Ive got a tekonsha prodigy controller im gonna be putting in my 96, i am unsure if there is a connector under the dash somewhere that will allow me to just plug it in or not. It may have to be hard wired. Anyone know?

Make sure you use a circuit breker instead of a fuse for the power (black wire) and also the brake wire (red) and atleast 14 guage to the trailer (blue wire) white to ground

Nah they're not that hard. I had it in my 72 Chevy but i sold it this week and I for damn sure wasnt letting my $160 brake controller go with it. Got one in my old gas burban too but it was an elcheapo piece of crap. It works, tho. But its time delay instead of inertia activated like the prodigy. I just wasnt sure if a 96 had a place to just plug and go or not. All the trucks now have it, but 96 i guess wasnt one of them. Oh well :) Its got a brake controller in it now, but its another of the cheapies. I think it applys full brake force up to the max that you set, any time the brake is applied. Bleh! Talk about some rough stops!

I bought an install kit with the box when i bought it. It had the correct wiring and circuit breaker with it. I took it all off the old truck before i sold it, so i'll reuse some of it, and replace what i need to, if i need to.
