I bought a used oxy torch setup and went to go cut with it the other day, i was playing around with the setting to get it set right when I touched the adjustment knob on the oxy dump lever and ever since then the lever does nothing. It worked (well i noticed it dumped oxygen) when i got it, but now it just dosent spit out anymore oxygen when i hit it.
Any ideas? Could it have gotten it clogged? Is there supposed to be a spring or a screw or something im missing?

what type of tourch is it (brand) and then it has an accetalin vaulve and an oxygen vaulve that are where the hoses and the tourch handle meet correct and then it has another O2 vaulve by the lever thats the cutting oxygen vaulve. can you still light the tourch? im puzzeled by that maybe a pic could help. just so you know im in school to be a welder and i just finished my OA cutting class

its a craftsmen, I can light it, the lever just does nothing when i press it, I can cut with it if i futz with the oxygen valve while im going but its finiky at best and its taken forever to get cuts done with it.
I've adjusted the top screw in and out and cleaned it but i just cant find any setting that seems to do anything when i press the lever. Should i just go out and get a new good cutting head?
What do i need the regulators on the tanks set at?

Are you leaving the lower oxygen valve on all the way and then adjusting the flame with the upper oxygen valve? have you tried taking the tip off and making sure its not clogged?

Check the center hole in the tip to see if something has come through the line and blocked it. Then pull it all apart can't be much wrong if was working, put compressed air on the tip, to back flush while pressing the lever.

I was really puzzeled by this so when i was at school last night i asked my teacher and heres what i got 4 you
What the other guys are sayin could help also but how much O2 is in your tank if the tank is fairly empty you wont have ewnough presses to do any thing with the cutting vaulve.
The other thig is that it sounds like something is cloged i would try taking it appart as much as you can
the settings are tourch and tip specific but im betting that you will be ok with them at 35 or som on the O2 and 5 or so on the accetlyn

Ill take a look at the torch tonight and see if i can find anything, the tanks were just filled, i think the gas at 1,200psi and the O2 is a little more.
I bet just pulling the tip apart might do it. I just haven't felt it necessary to pull the whole thing apart for fear i might break it more. I just figured I might be doing something wrong.

Tips are the culprit most every time (as long as the tanks have gas that is).
