Hi there,

I've got a 94 GMC K series 3/4 w/6.5TD. I'm just installing a new OPS that was purchased from SSDiesel (fast shipping). The website claims to remove the two bolts supporting the fuel filter and push it aside to reveal the OPS which is threaded into the block.

I've done this but it sure seems difficult to loosen with a standard 1 1/16" or 27mm wrench. I could probably get at it if I cut the wrench down but there must be a better tool for this job.

A really long throat socket or a stubby 1 1/16" wrench would probably be the ticket but I can't seem to find these unicorns at any of the local tool stores.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Great site.

I managed to get mine out with the help of a basin wrench..... plumber's tool for reaching up behind a sink to remove faucet......

I don't know if this helps, but I ended up taking a 1 1/16 wrench, cutting the open end off to about 1 1/2 and then re welding the end on at a right angle to the rest of the wrench. Not as fast as the 15.00 ops socket that I bought, but it worked a lot better.
