Hello i have a 02 chevy express 3500 with a 6.5 turbo diesel for 2 days ive been trying to get it started i replaced the lift pump because i wasnt getting any fuel to the filter and it has a new fuel filter and a new pmd and it still wont start and im not getting any air at the bleed valve on the fuel filter just a steady stream of fuel so i could gladly use some information or lead me in the right direction.

Try cracking the T handel on the fuel line at the front of the engine to see if fuel is running through the system while your trying to crank it. After installing the same compoenets you mention, I found that this was a way of getting air out of the system and getting it started w/o straining everything too much; starter, pmd, ip, lift pump etc.

You will have air in the injector pump, You need to loosen 2 injector lines, either at the pump or injectors to let the air through while cranking, have to do this every time mine sucks a load of air.

After i opened the brass T drain valve on my burb while it was running, and nothing came out, it stalled. I discovered then that the lift pump was bad. I replaced it, and bled the system and now it doesnt start quite as easy as it did before. I really dont think theres any air in it still considering it runs fine and isnt HARD to start just doesnt seem to start as easy as it did before i screwed with it and made it lose its prime before. If i run the glow plugs before every start, it starts perfect and right off the key as it should. I KNOW it needs injectors, and i blame the injectors on the starting issue i just think its odd that it doesnt start the same as it did before i messed with it. But if there was any air in the system it would either work itself out and be fine, if it was a small amount, or just not start if it was alot. Right? Trace amounts of air wouldnt effect the starting i wouldnt think especially where it starts perfect after the GP's run. I think a small amount of air would work itself out anyways.

I think it is a coincedence, my burb needs injectors and needs glow plugs usually when hot to start, but is variable. The air is not the problem.

Thats what im thinking too. I gotta run my GPs every time for it to start right. If i dont ill crank it for a second or two and i guess just out of habbit release the key. And it usually hasnt started by then if i havnt run the GPs. Then i hit it again a second time and then it usually starts.

When I start cold, it begins to fire but the start up amount of injection won't spray properly. If it is almost running then letting off the starter with some boot down gives it more fuel and it bursts into life.

Ah. The computer only ignores the TPP when the key is in the crank position?

That's right, if one connected a wire and start switch direct to the starter solenoid, then perhaps the throttle would work during start, must try that, also good for fast bleeding air out of the injector pump after running out of fuel.
