Performance chips/computers

Ive been debating on if I want to get a reprogramed computer for my truck or not. Im not looking to race but I would like a little extra pep and Would like the extra towing power. Are these computers reliable over time? Im seeing all these new diesels putting out crazy power, but I dont know how long these beefed up motors will last. I just dont want something that will compramize the life of my motor.

I would say as long as you keep all the critical areas in check with your gauges, you probably aren't compromising anything, just doing what gm should have done in the first place! The 6.5 is a very durable engine.
