what tells the glow plug relay how long to run the glow plugs? instead of these extra wire and solenoid manual gp controlers, couldnt you just splice in like a 16ga power wire to the wire that turns the glow plug on relay and use a smaller pushbutton switch? it'd be a one wire install instead of adding and extra solenoid and extra 8 ga wiring. Any thoughs/advice appreciated.

takes only a light gage wire to trigger the relay, have that on my 82 Chev, no controller just a button inside and count to 7 seconds, works great.

which wire on the factory gp relay did you hook your pushbutton to?
Thanks.

I did that on my 6.2, the 6.5 has 3 wires so I don't know which one, others on the forum have done it so hopefully some one will post.

Just do some investigating, find out which of the small wires turns the relay on. Then run a wire from that terminal to one side of a two sided switch, preferrebly a momentary button. Then run a wire from the other side of the switch to either the battery, a fuse, or the big terminal on the relay that is hot all the time. That way when you push the button it turns on the relay and when you let up on the button it turns it back off.
