loosing my axel shaft

If it is a full floating axle your axle bolts came loose.There should be eight and they torque around 100 ft.lbs..if it is a semi-floating axle you have a bad bearing that is pressed onto the axle and it requires removing the retaining bolts that hold the axle onto the brake backing plate.

He mentioned a nut a key and a circlip, so it is the fully floating axle. He must have removed the axle from the drum to know that the key and circlip are destroyed, so assembly is straight forward. New seal in the drum, put drum on the stub axle, then the nut and make it only finger tight, insert the key and put the clip over it. Bolt the driving axle back in. Ya hecho!
