service engine soon light

i keep getting service engine soon light, it comes on for a few days then it is fine for a wek or so then it comes back on. my truck is a 98 sierra 3500,should i be worried or what do i need to check? thanks:confused:

I'd get it plugged in somewhere (my local Bumper to Bumper will read codes for me for free, but I have known these guys since HS) and get the code. From there these guys can troubleshoot it pretty well. You should at least get the code read, it might be something small or a warning of impending doom.
