My 98 3500 with 40,000 miles started acting up. It has a check engine light and is giving the code 275. Which is something to do with the pump and timing. Has anyone else had this problem and what is the solution?

And I should mention that at idle and WOT engine sounds normal any thing else it knocks from one cylinder pretty bad. And I have had nothing but fuel delivery problems with this truck. GM's dual tank fuel control box was their worst idea ever.

P0275 - Cylinder 5 Contribution/Balance Fault
If you mention, that it knocks from one cylinder pretty bad, i would assume, that you got a bigger problem. Piston slap, piston rings, melted piston, pissing injector or something else ?
Hope this helps !

My 96 had one cylinder that knocked louder than the rest..... when the injection pump was replaced that noise dissappeared. It also had an SES light on i think and would stumble around a corner. It was wierd. But all those problems dissappeared with a new injecton pump.
