When you say you have dual diesel pumps do you mean two injector pumps?? Theres a video of a tractor running around the net that has two injector pumps on a 6.5. Its awesome. Anyways an intercooler really doesnt GIVE more power it lets you keep the power you have. The hot uncooled turbo boost will make the computer defuel and thus make less power. But if you cool that air down the computer wont defuel and you'll still have all the power you should have. If youve ever noticed your truck has more power at night and in cold weather, thats because the air is significantly cooler. An intercooler will help keep that same performance all the time. Maybe even better. A 3" down pipe and 4" exhaust will help you tons too.

I have been thinking about this for a while now and was wondering if any one has tried a air to water cooler. That way you don't have to put it down were most after market companies put it but will still get all the advantages of having one. Plus you don't have to worry about air flow over the inter-cooler.

Thats what im going to do. I really notice the power loss bad when I'm running up a long hill, part of it is probably because of the location of my intake pulling in air after its gone though the radiator.

But i think it would be much easier to pipe water around to the front of the grill then to pipe 2.5" intake tubing around.

The only reason I didn't go water to air is because you need a way to keep the water cool. It's fine if you can put ice or something to keep the water cool on short trips. But if the heat exchanger on the water isn't big enough or enough air flow to keep the water cool, it is just going to heat the water and then do no good anyway. On long pulls in 100 degree heat my IAT temps was 300 degrees. On a air to air I always had 100 degree air going across my intercooler. On a water to air if the water gets to 200 degrees that is what temp is going into my engine. The air to air was too easy I guess. I wasn't willing to run the plumbing for the water and wiring for fans and another radiator to keep the water cool. Ebay has quite a few water to air intercoolers and then just plumb it up.

Yah, with water to air, you need to have a dedicated radiator and pump to make it work well........

I'd look for a first gen dodge or early duramax intercooler... They will fit the 90's chevy without too much fabbing, and are ENORMOUS.... You'll never max out the capabilities of one.........

That's what most of the cummins conversion fellas are doin'..........

what are the dimensions of your intercooler ?

how many is the psi drop

Mine is 25X12X3 with 3" inlet and outlet. I have a boost fooler and gauges and thought I was going to have to adjust the boost fooler once the intercooler was done. But my max boost stayed at 15PSI and I notice no turbo lag like some people said I would have. It starts building boost not far off idle.
