When I took of my valve cover on my old engine there was a gasket on it. When I took the valve cover off of my new engine, there was some kind of silicone gasket. When I swaped the covers (I needed the valve cover with the cdr inlet for my new engine) I used a gasket and a sealant. I just bought 3 different types of sealant and I bought the gaskets for the rest of the parts I have to put back on. I think this new enigne runs at a higher compression so everything has to be really sealed. So, I have PERMATEX black silicone adhesive sealant, As well as PERMATEX hight-temp red rtv silicone gasket maker that says it goes up to 650 degrees, and finally I have a PERMATEX sensor safe blue rtv silicone gasket maker. Which one of these should use as I install my parts?? I am installing an oil pan (have gasket as well), a timing chain cover (also have gasket) and an oil pump drive (do not have gasket) ...thank you for your time.
