One of my trucks has the standard air box and the other has the K&N filter setup that eliminates the air box.

Logic tells me the stock air box is a better system if it is coupled with a nice K&N filter.

The way I see it the stock airbox offers:

*Better air filtration (with a quality K&N filter installed)

*Much cooler/denser air for more power

The modified air filter system with no airbox seems like a bad idea.

What are your opinions on these??

PS The one with the modified air box came that way

I'll go along with that, the cold air is the most important.

Can it be restored to the original??

It has been switched to manual waste gate control as well. I am hoping that won't interfere with putting a stock box back on............

If it's done reasonably, it won't interfer... I have completely stock intake with manual controller.

According to Gale Banks in an interview I watched on Speed Channel you get a !% increase in horse power for every 1degree drop in the temperature of the intake air and a 7% gain in power for every psi of boost.

With the relatively low boost levels the 6.5 runs I am wondering how much the temperature of the intake air is raised at 15lbs of boost.
