OK, GM diesel noob question here: Besides displacement, what differences exist between the 6.2 and the mechanically injected NA 6.5? In other words, are 6.2's strong and reliable? Also, what is the approximate parts cost to rebuild a 6.2 or 6.5?

I guess the real diff is in the hp, the 6.5 churns out 190, the 6.2 a little less. Part wise they are similar, but if I had the choice...I take the 6.5 all day. Both have issues, but there are enough aftermarket upgrades to see you through the tough times. A few mods will have you over the 300hp mark easily. I still working on what I am gonna do to my truck this year, I am overdue on the upgrades.

from my understanding the head are the big difference in the two engines, other than the turbo and injection systems. I have a buddy that has 800,000 k on a 6.2 and it runs like .....ell almost new. the are a tough underpowered work horse.
