Have had some strange issues with my newest 6.5 and just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on the issues. Heres the story...
In the beginning of november I bought a 95 C3500 with 87000 miles on it to replace my 95 K3500 with 190000. I pull a 3+1 wedge car trailer and really don't ever use the 4x4 so I figured this would work out better for me. So I drive the truck around for a few weeks, switch the 4'' exhaust over, install larger trans pan, and install a 60hp chip. Truck seems to run damn good pull the hills much better than the old girl, so I think all is well. Hook up my trailer and hit the road. About 250 miles in to my trip I pull off at a regular fuel stop for this trip, and smoke starts billowing out the exhaust coming down the ramp. I hoped for the best, but alas the head gasket had blown out. I left the trailer at the truck stop, went home and got the old truck and towed it back. Over the next week, I tore it down, replaced the head gaskets, and put her back together. I drive the truck for another week or so to make sure everything was ok before going back to get the trailer and finish my trip. Everything went well, and about 1000 miles later i hooked back up to the trailer and headed out. Truck was running great untill about 30 miles down the road noticed a slight loss of power, and slightly dropping oil pressure, Also begin to smell burning oil. I let off the throttle and the truck died right there, coasted to the side of the road and the truck wouldn't start back up. I ended up putting the old girl back to work and scratching my head as to what went wrong with the new truck. Seeing how I had just fixed the head gaskets I had been watching the guages like a hawk when I was driving. The temp never went over 210 and the oil pressure ran about 40lbs untill this incident. Also the oil pressure never went below say 15lbs during this incident either. If anyone has ever had anything like this happen to them before or has any idea what could have happened I would greatly appreciate it. At roadside truck would crank over slowly, but now will not crank at all. I plan to pull the glowplugs and see if by chance one of the cylinders is full of fluid, but besides that I don't know what to do.
Heres all the info about the truck and what mods have been done
95 C3500 6.5 turbo, 4l80E trans, 4.10 rear, relocated pmd cooler, k&N filter in box, 4 in SS diesel exhaust, turbomaster controller(no vac pump), 60hp eprom, oversized trans pan
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Merry Christmas to all.
