Walt's filter is a K&N, so it can be washed out and recharged like any other K&N. K&N sells a recharge kit that has all the stuff you need for this... check summit racing for recharge kit....

K+N recharge kits are redily available thru most any parts store and will service your filter multiple times.

I can't remember where I read this, but I know that I read that the oiled type air filters are not as efficient as a dry media type of filters. Something to do with K&N type relying on the oil, where as the dry relys on the actual filter fibers to do the job. Don't remember exactly though, sorry

I just wash mine out with warm water and dish soap, dry it and re-apply the filter oil that you can buy seperately, without having to purchase the whole recharge kit.

Hey Bluevee33:
I got the cold air kit from Walt too.
But I installed the prefilter sock over the K&N.
Worked great for me. I take it off now and then
and the inside is clean as a whistle. The outside
remains pretty clean too. All I do to mine is
vacuum the sock while it's still on the filter and
I'm good to go.

Thanks barrnik.. I think i'm gonna try that!! The thing is.. I live 1 1/2 miles down a dirt road that is nothing but dust in the summer!! You think the sock will still work?? Thanks

I think I'd be redesigning a way to suck cleaner air from the front of the truck, usually ahead of the dust cloud. Sucking form inside the engine compartment has the potental to be much dirtier. You have cooling fan blowing air down twords ground stirin up dust, and tires stirrin up dust. All that dust will find its way into the engine compartment. Just my thoughts though.

K&N filter in stock box sucking thru stock fender for now. Least you'll be suckin air from the front of your truck. I'm just starting to fix the body on my truck. New front clip, whole thing, cab corners and rockers. I'm tryin to design a ram air box & tunnel from the front to the air filter. pretty tight space though. Don't want a ram air hood, but thinkin cowl induction hood. See how far i can streach my money, and get the most bang for my $. I have welder/torch and plendy or scrap sheet metal to work with.
