I've got a #36 code injector pulse width error long response. I read somewhere that the fuel shut off solenoid was bad, is this right. Thanks

Could be ! But couldn't be also !
Run about 1 quart ATF in a full tank and good shot directly into the diesel filter housing. Clear the code after running the full tank and see if it comes again. If not, okay. I recommend to run a fuel conditioner like Stanadyne or 911 or about 1 quart of 2-stroke-oil (NO motor oil) in every full tank. The ULSD doesn't lubricate the IP and the injectors enough. That can cause the DTC also.

Allright i'll try it first, certainly is cheaper.

I have the same code, it comes on and off and different times, from acceleration to deceleration. I run standadyne fuel conditioner in every tank. Before when I got the code it turned out to be the PMD, I replace it in May, have had the SES light now for almost 4 months. Still starts good, but I did have an episode around christmas where I had to stand on it and it about died, once I let off the pedal it recovered. I have cleared the codes on it and as soon as you drive it the code comes right back. Could this be the PMD, the Fuel solenoid shut off or something else?

Other than I would suggest 8oz powerservice silver mixed with 8oz 2 stroke oil be substituted for the ATF, I agree with Sven.
code 36 is a lubricity or gunk issue.

Well I added the 2 stroke oil and after a 2 days I haven't had any more SES lights come on, but now when I need to accelerate pretty hard the truck acts like it isn't gettting enough fuel, it start fine and runs fine just cruising. Could the oil in fuel have anything to do with it, or is something like PMD starting to fail, or possible lift pump or inj. pump?

Nothing to do with the oil and i think, nothing with PMD also, but sounds like a bad liftpump or a bad OPS. You should check if your lift pumps runs, if not, wire it directly to 12V. If it runs, the OPS is bad. If not, the liftpump is bad.

Sorry, what is the OPS you are referring to?

Oil Presure Switch. it controlls the operation of the lift pump.

Change the fuel filter, the ATF probably cleaned the tank and now the muck is in the filter. Oh.so you didn't add ATF, but check the filter anyway.
