So it started last night when i wanted to put my left blinker on to pull onto the road the whole truck dies. And occasionally when I go to turn the key on to wait for the glow plugs to warm there is a few second delay for all the lights in the dash to come on, ex. WTS, SES, brake light coolant light, and then they will come on. Or going down the road the truck just shuts off. Now im not sure if its a key ignition switch problem or its in the starter its self? But the truck will turn over and turn over even its the lights dont on and wont start unless i stop and fiddle with the key... Does anyone understand what im talking about?

Maybe this would solve the porblem? http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=ACD&MfrPartNumber=D1481C&PartType=410&PTSet=A

classic ignition switch failure, not where the key is, down the lower part of the stearing column.

I agree with grancito. When my PMD died recently I had no such symptoms. The motor would just suddenly die as tho you'd turned off the key at complete random. Sometimes it would just cut out momentarily and come back on by itself. Fine for a couple days then two or three times on the way to town the next day. Never left me stranded as it always restarted after a minute or two. Other electrical functions were normal and no SES light came on. I drove the truck in and had it scanned, diagnosed the problem, installed a new PMD and I'm back in business.

I had the same problem with my 97 GMC gas truck and it turned out to be the ignition switch under the key in the column part cost about  $300 for my truck.
