I recently replaced all of my injectors and now one is fouled, yes I should have kept them a little cleaner. Well my question is now that one is fouled, how do I find which one it is? Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

To check for the dead cylinder, with the engine idling, loosen one injector line at a time, basically like pulling spark plug wires to find a skip. When the engine doesnt change, you know thats the dead cylinder. But remember with fuel leaking on hot manifolds, there is a risk of fire, make sure you have some sort of fire extinguisher nearby. Good Luck.

Also, if you have a 94 or newer truck, you can use a TECH 2 scanner if available. There is a function on the scanner to shut off each injector one by one much like the test sixnickel suggested, except without spilling fuel. But only a TECH 2 can do that, unfortunately.

someone told me to try and measure exhaust temps so i used a digital thermometer and guess what, I found one cyl running colder than the rest. I haven't pulled the injector yet and so far I'm lucky it's the number 1 cyl. With my luck I would have thought it would have been the hardest one to get to. I will let you know how things work out.

well I took the injector out tonight and after taking it apart I found that the needle is trashed. Put one of my old injectors in and runs fine now. I will have to get a new nozzle and rebuild that injector. Thanks for the advice.

actually I have software and a cable from obd-2.com that can do that as well. Can also shift gears, test engine shutoff, set RPM's, set timing...

an update on my injectors. More than one was fouled and I since replaced all of them with stock for now. I removed all of the nozzles from the injectors and inspected the needles and found that 1) there all Bosch 2) there is mixed mfr's for bosch, nozzles are either made in India, Turkey or Germany for Bosch 3) the India nozzles are junk, the Turkish nozzles are so so and I wish all the nozzles I has were German.

All the junk nozzles I have were made in India and yes I have a few German ones and those are fine. I read a thread somewhere last night that has pics of these bad nozzles and I was amazed, so beware of what you buy.

scrufdog; the software and cable you make reference to, would that be for running on a laptop?

yeah. The cable comes as a serial cable, or you can add like $10 and they include a usb to serial adapter.
