Yep, two axles close to one another. Class 8 trucks (Semis) will have tandem drive axles. Most trailers will have tandem axles under them. Then you get into spread axle trailers where the axles are quite a bit further apart for weight distribution.
also, from www.thefreedictionary.com

1. A two-wheeled carriage drawn by horses harnessed one before the other.
2. A team of carriage horses harnessed in single file.
3. A tandem bicycle.
4. An arrangement of two or more persons or objects placed one behind the other: driving horses in tandem.
adj.
Having two identical components arranged one behind the other: a tandem axle.

Saw a guy at a 4x4 show that built a tandem with a k30 frame. It had two driven 14 bolt Full floating rears. He Built a diff cover with a 2nd pinion gear and then put the second 14 bolt upside down so it ran in the right direction.

I read an artical, and it had pics, where a farmer did that tandem axleaddition to his truck and made a spray rig outta it. I heard of a farmer in the next county doing the same, but i havent seen it. looks neat. but i have no use for such a thing at this point. RowGators are much more nimble, and practical.

Hi sasquatch, great site. I just checked it out, great looking "little" trucks!
I'd like to own one w/new 6.5td, 4x4, etc. Fun to drive too, I'll bet.

I think it would be fun to build and drive but my financial advisor (wife) says HELL NO.

I have been fond of the lil big rig for a while, but it is not a true tandem drive axle, it is kit for just a trailing axle. Looks awesome! I wonder if it would increase the tongue weight capacity of a 5th wheel hitch of gooseneck???

Yes, it will increase the weight capacity. But.... What weight are you tagged for? Here in TX you can still be overweight if your registration doesn't match up w/ what you are hauling. Pretty much it boils down to more rubber on the road=more weight capacity. However, that is not the only criteria and it only gets more complicated from there. Chassis, suspension, brake type, and on and on and on.
There are a lot of pulp wood haulers around here that have taken an old F800 Ford and added a drag axle behind the drive axle to increase what they can "axle out" on the scales.

I know it would never fly out here.Sure you could add the extra axle, but it would not help in your load capacity rating. You may how ever have your truck taken in and try to get the weight capacity rating of your vehicle changed ,Costly and who knows whether or not they would even consider doing it for you! you would be doing it all for the looks.
