I've got just about all the parts i need to make the swap, i know you can only run minimal boost on these engines so I am going to take measures to keep that in check but ive got a few questions.
I have an oil line i got from GM that will connect to the to the top of the turbo, and the oil should come from the other side of the engine by the oil filter, I was under the impression that the line would connect all the way to that port but when i got it, it was way too short to run to the other side of the engine. I was thinking about making a hard line to connect the hose to that port. Is that where the oil comes from on the 6.5? If any of you guys running a turbo on a 6.2 or a 6.5 stock have any pictures of the oil lines you can share with me to help me out i would appreciate it.
Ive got the oil drain fitting to connect to where my fuel pump is and im going to install an electric lift pump, what pressure/volume should i look for. I have a 4-7psi 25gph pump lying around, will that work well or will i need more gallonage?
The only other part i still need is a plenum, if anybody has replaced theirs and want to sell it let me know. i know i saw those guys with the intercoolers had an aftermarket part, who is the manufacture?

It seems the turbo i ordered for a 6.5 chevy diesel arrived today and it happened to be a holset hx35w. Which i think is stock on the 5.9 cummins diesel. I matches right up to my 6.5 headers but theres one problem the headers on the cummins hang down the chevy points up. If i decide to keep this turbo i think i can clock the center chunk to put the oil feed on the top and return on the bottom where it should be. The only other thing ill have to tackle is cutting off the exhaust and rotated it until it points down or straight back. I'm worried about overboost, i think the waste gate on that turbo is set to go at 30psi or something ridiculous like that. Any suggestions? Keep the holset or go for a gm4 or something like that.

So, Can anyone give me any info on the oil lines on the 6.5 for the turbo? I need to run lines to the turbo like the banks kit, is it a hard line on the 6.5 or is it a soft braided line i can buy from GM?

wow three self replys, lol.
seeing as i can not account for doing a swap myself my experance is limited. first off the oil.
not sure where the 6.5 gets the supply but if you have a pressureized connection by the oil filter that should be good. return to the pan is ok if thats where your drain will be.
make sure to get an oil cooler, this is stock on the 6.5TD and will increase the life of the motor and the oil. as far as the turbo you will need to decrease the turbo output ALOT, this can be done with an electronic wastegate controler(pricy). of corse you will not want to run alot of boost through your NA, maby 6PSI max, so you might want to invest in a blow-off, set at 6PSI, that will be your failsafe from blowing the motor. additional cooling should also be added, as the more power the more heat.
as far as the intake i see thoes going off on ebay for 20-60 bucks. i have been thinking of getting one myself for modding for an inercooled setup.
prepare to do a headgasket within 70K as well, it will blow.

Oil feed is from the front of the block, between the head and timing cover housing on the passenger side of the block on the 6.5, not sure about the 6.2 it may be there also.
Boost pressure I'd keep it below 10psi and you should be fine, 6.2's and 6.5's were there same compression ratios from what I've read NA and turbo.

Thanks for the info, a picture is worth 1k words and would be greatly appreciated.
I read that the compression ratio on the 6.2 and the 6.5 is almost identical, 23.1 on the 6.5 and 23.5 on the 6.2. I plan on putting in oversized head gaskets when it comes time to replace them, that should give me 1 extra cubic inch of space in the cylinders and bring down the compression a little.
Banks sidewinder is rated for 10psi, i trust banks unconditionally and figure thats a good target. basically we just have to realize that the turbo on the 6.2 and 6.5 is just to get 100% air capacity into the engine before the compression stroke. NA engines can drop the amount of air they can take in under load to under 80%. All we're trying to do here is give it a little bit of boost to get even, not get ahead like like the power strokes, cummins and the dmax with the 18:1 pistons.

Thats the best I can do, IIRC that is CanadianRigger's engine.

Thanks for the picture, I looked on my engine tonight and it looks like i have that oil port, its plugged right now, it looks like its right on top of the water pump. is that correct? ill have to test it to see if i can get oil out of there.

Yes, its between the head and timing chain housing on the block. Look at the top of the page pic of long block its the shiny plug. Here's a zoomed in pic.
