when at idle threw 1500 rpms it works but if the engine revs over 1500 rpm the tach fall to 0 rpm until the engine speed drops back down to 1500 or less then it picks back up to an rpm inbetween the 0 and 1500 rpm range ?????????? i tok the instrument panel apart and cleaned the connections and bent the male plug conectors so they would have a tighter connection and that did nonthing PLEASE HELP its driveing me crazy

Did you check the connector at the alternator ? There should be two wires at, one for charging the batts and one (the white ??? - IIRC) is for the tach/RPM signal. Broken wire or a short or bad alternator or a bad internal controller ???

The voltage regulator inside the alternator. Didn't find the right word in my posting before.

Sven If your charging system is working as in it is charging ,then i would say that the sensor or pick-up for you tac in your alternator is not working properly or is worn out

Sounds like the tach wire from the alternator is broken, it connects via the regulator to the coils in the alternator.
