I've heard of people switching to a switzer turbo. I cant comment on them but I think anything from gale banks engineering is as good as it gets.

Unless you plan on some serious upgrades...92mm Inj Pump, 18:1 comp ratio motor, etc...there is really no point is upgrading to any aftermarket turbo. The best you would really want to do without mega mods would be grabbing a
GM-8 turbo off a newer 6.5TD. With most upgrades, computer upgrade, manual boost controller, marine injectors...the most boost you'll ever need is 15 PSI, and thats really only recommended if you run and intercooler.
However, once upgrading a turbo becomes a feasible idea, the one I have seen most people use is a Holset HX35, which is used on Cummins diesels.

hey carlos, ill trade you your 6.5 turbo for my hx35w, i bought it off ebay and the guy said it was a gm-8 but it wasn't.
Other then that good point, does anybody know off hand what the stock compression is on a 6.5 and on a 6.2, im putting a turbo on my 6.2 and was wondering if putting in 6.5 pistons (if they are lower compression) would be a good (cheaper then custom pistons) way of getting lower compression.
BTW, do people make those manual waste gate controllers or do they sell them somewhere, i've looked but couldn't find any info on them.

Thanks for the info, I cant imagine a spring with a bolt and a nut costs $109. I can probably fab the same thing for around $10.
