I started my truck the other day and it started and ran fine, I drove it for 5 minutes across town and shut it off, and when I went to start it 5 minutes later everything electrical shut off. The truck wont crank, the radio wont even turn on but both batteries are reading 12.5 volts. The headlights still work fine to, but the under hood light will go very dim if you turn the key on with the hood open. Tried jumping it to another truck and the starter motor solenoid will just click. I checked all the battery grounds to the engine and made sure the connections to the battery where tight.
I am wondering if it could be the ignition switch but I'm really not sure? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have had this happen on my truck more than once and it has always been those *^#%ing screw in battery connections.

However, there are some threads in this forum discussing ignition switch problems if you do a search.:)

Found the problem. both battery ground cables had taken a crap so i had to parallel the grounds for the batteries and fired up no problem. Guess Its a good time to convert to top mount terminals.

yep best way to go with screw in posts, use solder pellets at cable to connectors, shrink wrap the connections at cable ends, use plenty dielectric grease or vasoline at conections.
