I think its the new noise is coming from the Vacume pump. I don't know how or why it would have been damaged. Only thing I did was replace the hose on it cause it was bad. It really sounds like the noise is coming from the vac pump. I removed the Serpintine belt and fired it up and no noise. It dosen't make the noise at an Idle. As soon as you give it any throttle to move it starts making this clicking sound. Sorta like your spinning a socket on a ratchet. But really LOUD.

I have an SS Diesel 80 hp Chip. Full throttle dosen't get me much more than 5-7 PSI. I really thought I got more boost out of it than that before I tore it down.

Could the new hose I used for the Vacume pump be a problem. It was a peice of brand new Fuel line I had. It fit perfectly and felt stiffer than the one that was on the Pump. I'm wondering if it is sucking shut or something. I just don't know why it would be making the clicking sound.

Whats your thoughts?!?!?

My vac pump does that but I only notice it when driving along a building or something. Difference is that i have no vacuum from mine anymore. It needs to come out soon before it locks up. My belt is in bad shape too. Perfect time to ditch the pump since i need a new belt anyways.

Don't you need the Vac pump to control the Wastegate on the turbo. I was under the impression that it was all done via the Vac pump supplying vacume and the computer telling the selinoid how much boost to allow by applying a certain amount of vacume?!?!??!?!

The vacum pump does control the waste gate. The clicking you hear could very well be from the new hose being sucked shut, I get the same sound when I remove the waste gate end of the harness and block it with my thumb to check vacum presence. I get a steady 18 incnhes of vac lift at the gate end after installing a new pump. Hope this helps. KAR

I'll definatly check this out. Boost was even worse last night. I could barely get above 3 psi per my boost gauge. Tops was 5 by the end of the drive to pick up the exhaust for my camaro.

I have a manual wastegate controller that I built myself. It eliminates the need for the vacuum pump on vehicles with a vin "F" engine. Heres some pics of mine. I now have a different spring on it as that one was kinda weak. It did what it was supposed to but it had to be compressed almost all the way down and I didnt want it that way. Now i have a bigger stronger spring on it that i barely have the adjustment nut down any at all and it works right.
