Hey guys i put a new starter in about 6 months ago and since then i have noticed sometimes when it is at operating temp and i shut off it then go to restart it before it cools it will not turn over unless i crawl underneath and tap the starter however lately it has got alot worse and will not turn over at all when its warm...i dont have any shims under it because the starter i took off didnt have any but could that be causing a problem? Thanks for the help

It can also be your ignition switch

thats what i am afraid of i will do some testing tomorrow to see if it is getting power to the solenoid when it is hot....but how could the heat be affecting my ignition when its so far away?

Basic starter soleniod problem, if it is not old, worn brushes too if has a lot of miles. Standard test, hit the starter motor with something heavy.
