So what is the best way to get to the few plugs under the turbo? Is it easier to remove the plastic wheel well thingy? and go from there or are there other suggestions?

Yes, best way to get at the under-turbo plugs is through the passenger wheel well. I have been contemplating making a removable plate that I could unscrew from inside the wheel well when I need to get at them.

Me and a buddy did my glow plugs not too long ago. Take off your tire and the skirting that goes over your suspension, and you'll be able to get at most of them on the turbo side. I think we had to take of a heat shield too, but for the plug behind the crossover, we just climbed right under the truck and stuck it in from there. Just make sure ya don't drop the plug like we did....took us about an hour to find it behind the exhaust manifold.

Good suggestions so far. I did the back plug,#8, from above and from below. PIA either way. Just take your time on it. When you pull the rubber flap you will see wires for #4 & #6 going through heat shield tubes. Those come off too.
Changing plugs is all about the correct tools. 1/4" drive deep socket with extension is needed on passenger side. I do #8 with a small wrench, one flat at a time.

I didn't use this method to change my glowplugs. I went in from the top. I removed the airbox, the heat shields, the turbo and the down pipe. I have a 3" down pipe with a 4" exaust. So removing the down pipe, now that it is all one piece, was an extra chore. Basically I had to remove the whole exhaust system. Before I put it back together, I bought some header flanges from Summit Racing, cut my down pipe and welded them in near where the factory kat flange was so I can just unbolt it to remove the downpipe next time.
Another tip is to use plenty of high heat anti sieze compond on the parts during reassembly.
