what are the pros and cons of switching to these over new stock ones? im doing a bunch of upgrades and wanted to know if it was worth the extra 100 bucks for the marine injectors over the stockers?

from what i hear the marine injectors allow more fuel to pass through, increasing HP. People say you can get better milage with um too, but i think more fuel allowed to pass through = more fuel consumption which in turn = poor milage. someone corect me if im wrong.

The stock injectors give enough fuel flow for the injection pump on your truck.

If you do alot of highway driving it is better fuel mileage. If your'e driving around town and have your foot in it no. these engines are starved for fuel right from GM and de-tuned. To me more HP means better fuel mileage. Think of it this way, more fuel = more HP, If you go lets 65mph on the highway you are going to use less throttle to keep it at 65mph wich means better fuel mileage. Thats the way I think and it has worked for me.

Will the marine injectors shorten the life of the motor? My background has been with the Detroit Diesel's and when you put a larger injector in one of those you would get better mpg and a bit more power at the cost of a shorter life span for the motor. Anyone know if this is true with the 6.5 turbo diesel? One more quick question:) , How hard is it to change the injectors on the turbo side of the motor on a 1996 GMC 1500? Looks cramped!. My grandfather has one and it has 117k miles. From what I read on the SSD site it's a little over due for a new set:eek:

To change the left side injectors, take the inner wheel well out and remove the turbo. It's not that hard of a job. If you don't already have new glow plugs it would be a good time to replace them when you do the injectors.
