Air Filter Alert

Went to clean my K&N style cone filter today and discovered
the metal cap on the inside and come off and allowed unfiltered
air and the cap fortunately did not get sucked into the impeller!!

Poor engineering to say the least!!

Not sure of the brand as it was on the truck when I bought it
and there are no marks on it I can see.

I am going to drill it and wire it so that it can never come off
again.

Anyone else hear of this??????

Yes, I was fairly common a few years ago, then the design was changed so it can't happen anymore. You would be better off replacing with a S&B filter anyway... they filter a whole lot better and come in a ton of sizes.....

Thanks,,,,,, I'll fix this one and order an S&B. Use this one
as a back up when cleaning.

no problem, I added a 3" mandrel elbow in mine, it moved the air filter over near the original position in front of the fender opening where cold air is coming in... and away from battery.
