Hey, I was just wondering what price everyone on here is paying for their fuel. In my area the price is .999 a litre. If I am right and there are 3.8 litres in a gallon, then I guess I'm paying about $3.80 a gallon. How does everyone else compare?

Sounds like you guys have it pretty good down south. From what I've heard, the prices in Europe are absolutely brutal. I'd like to hear what they're like over there. How'd you guys get started with the veggie oil?

Gas prices in Europe ? Here some from germany :

Diesel : 1,11 Euro per liter
Regular : 1,24 Euro per liter
Premium : 1,26 Euro per liter
Premium high octane : 1,38 Euro per liter

1 gal. -> 3,78 liter
1 Euro -> 1,31 US-$

So i think every price in th US or CDN is cheaper than here.

:D PLEASE SEND SOME CHEAP DIESEL TO THE POOR GERMAN ! Airmail preverred ! :D

Your block heater taps right into the water jacket of you engine block, so...antifreeze.

I have a circulating water heater w/thermostat in my truck since the block heater doesn't do the job sometimes in -40 -60c weather. It's 1800w is expensiveon the power bill but being a First Responder it's nice to jump in and go with instant heat.

today, $2.639 at the GAS station four blocks from my house, $2.469 at the truckstop four miles from my house. Here in Nebraska, we have the 4th highest fuel taxes in the US on gas and diesel. That's why this spring, after I get my engine back together, my neighbor who owns an 84 6.9IDI F350 Crew dually and I are going to start brewing our own biodiesel using WVO from the Chinese restaurant, bar & grill, and grocery store kitchen located in the stripmall in our neighborhood. Our state is starting to put a very serious push to become the leading ethanol and soy biodiesel producer in the US as a way to pump up our farm economy, as market prices are low, and we are coming out of a 5-year drought. If I can use WVO Bio to keep from lining Exxon-Mobile's CEO's pockets with my hard earned paycheck, then you're damn right I'm going to make my own for $0.75/gal!!!

It used to be. Couple of winters ago when it was so damn cold on the East coast, prices on diesel shot past that of gas. Reason: #2 diesel and #2 fuel oil (the major heating source in the Northeast) are the same thing less some additive packages. Come spring, the prices crept down but not back to where they were. Now add in these factors: 1. Once they know you will pay outrageous prices and not do anything about it (unlike back in '73), they won't let you off the hook. 2. Diesels get 30% better fuel milage for comparable sized engines vs gas. Do you want your customers using 30% less of your product? No, so you discourage the use and keep them hooked on gas by keeping diesel higher. 3. Crude oil prices. 4. Hurricane Katrina. On the fear of massive interruptions in the refining and distribution, fuel prices skyrocketed, and diesel shot ahead of gas and has stayed there. 5. Federally mandated ULSD requires much more refining than Low Sulphur, or the just plain old dead dinosaurs that we burned till the late 90's. 6. THE WAR IN IRAQ! U.S. Forces and civilian contractors are using between 400,000 and 500,000 gallons of diesel DAILY! I was a POL (Petoleum, Oil, Lubricants) Officer in my last assignment before I got out. My responsibilities were Corps and Theater level support of combat operations, providing 2.5 million gallons daily. This is dead on with what we consummed during both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom supporting all the armor, helicopters, wheeled vehicles, etc. In the sustainment mode we are in currently, we are consumming .4 to .5 M gal. daily. If we were no longer there, could you imagine what an extra half million gals. of diesel added to the supply daily would do to pump prices? Drop them about $0.20-$0.25.

Biodiesel. Brew your own. It's not that hard. Run B-100. Or blend 50/50 or 25/75 to lower your operating costs.

Up $.30 in the last 10 days. Dime jump the day before the big March 1 blizzard (Hey 3bals, you dug out yet in Mineapolis?), dime last Saturday after the storm was over, and another dime yesterday. Running $2.74 - $2.79 at the truckstops, $2.99 - $3.09 at the gas stations.

Can you say price gouge? The jump right before the blizzard was WITHOUT new delivery, as was the one after, at the truckstop nearest me. Hooked us and reelin' us in!

No, not blaming you, but when it gets really cold, you Nor'easter's do use a lot of #2 fuel oil to stay warm. Out here, it's Natural Gas (no, not from all the cattle:D). Just like the way how when there's a big, Nation-wide storm system they take us all on fuel prices, whether to stay warm, or to plow out and go to work.
