Pop goes the fuse

while driving today, gauges froze and buzzer went off. When I turned off the lights the buzzer stopped.
I drove 60 miles to work. Then made a stop on way home and could not restart due to dead battery.
Upon getting home, I charged the batteries and pulled the plug on the alternator and replaced the 20 amp guages fuse. Turned key and fuse instantly blew:confused:

You said a buzzer went off. Is this like a low oil pressure or high water temperature buzzer that you will find on the big rigs? I don't think my truck has one and if it does I have never heard it. If the fuse blew and it was to the gauges I would think that would be in your dashboard if they ALL froze up.

i don't have the best schematic,but what i see from it is.gauge fuse circuit powers the charge indicator lamp,fuel heater,and glowplug
controller.i would start isolating components.wire color "pnk" pink and
"pnk/blk"pink/blackstripe.
