So you sold 6.5l to buy this, and now you want to sell this to get a cummins? Not interested in blue oval products, just curious on the story. :)

Why do you want smoke?

If you want a smoker, the d-max won't be it either.get you an old 4-53 detroit and stick that in you powerstroke.smoke like hell, wont mind late oil changes, and you get that great sound to boot.

Why would you want smoke, knowing what causes the smoke, unused fuel, which just means the engine is inefficient at making potential power. Anything will make smoke, just choke the airflow so less oxygen gets into the cylinder to finish burning the fuel. On the 6.5TD could have just upped the fuel input on the manual pump, a larger turbo would have decreased smoke as well as a cold air intake. Mine left a terrible smoke blackout to anyone behind me in traffic, until I changed the injectors and got rid of my hypertech chip.

Just want to know why do so many people want smoke? Not tryin to be smart but i thought smoke raises egt's and waste of fuel\$.

smoke is a huge waste of money....but ill put my truck up and almost bet that i can out power any 6.5 on this forum...i had 1...we turned the pump up...changed the intake....and had what was supposedly an upgraded turbo on it...it smoked...had some power...but not enough.....smoke just means you havent ran out of power according to some guys i know that pull...haha i agree....if your truck smokes like mine does with stock sticks....than imagine what itll do when i get my stage I's....you know ive found that the only guys that really hate smoke and get pissed when other ppl want it is guys that drive 6.5's....i love smoke....got stage I's and a set of stacks commin for the stroker....also smoke CAN raise egt's....my pyro doesnt move but 100-200degrees when im in extreme as compared to stock or daily driver....if you know how to watch that then no problems....too much fuel will raise the egt's but to accomplish that with an obs stroker you'd have to get stage II or III injectors and not do a turbo upgrade or have an intercooler....lots of my buddies have strokers and not a 1 has problems with high egt's....and 1 was runnin amost 550 horse....blew his tranny sold it and got a newwer one....

Its not that we hate smoke, but most of are in pursuit of being most efficient and using all the power we have. Upgrading your intake and turbo would have reduced your smoke, since they would have provided more oxygen to burn the fuel more completely.
Smoking helps keep a nasty perception the US has on diesels, further preventing its widespread use in vehicles here. And its kind of bad for the environment. Believe me though, I dont care I used to enjoy putting a smoke screen out behind me for tailgaters on the interstate, it just doesnt really make sense logically to most of us. I'm sure youve heard it all before though.
One of the guys that works for me had a Dmax with edge system and other mods and it was a fast beast with lots of power, no way I'll ever get there, but I also will not have paid 1/4 of what he did to have it.

I just use my truck to pull my toys and stuff like that. If i wana go fast i go out and run my dodge 150 with a 440 six pack...... now that burns a lot of gas......My wife hates when i start that one up because i usually ask her for a $100.00 for gas It does 9.89 in the 1/4.
