My truck did this every so often...usually when Im late taking my girls to school. Its those darn terminals, especially the stacked ones. It was a recurring problem for me, until I put some dialectic grease on it after cleaning with a small wire brush. And dont over torque those connectors, I stripped mine swapped to top post...havent had problems in over 6 months now. I replaced my starter, and batteries too, until I did the routine maintenance deal and cleaned up the nasty contacts after the problem persisted week after week.

Like Rckymtndezl said check the connections. Also a trick I ase all the time Make sure the truck is in park or out of gear, brake on, will not roll! have some one hold the key in the crank position get under the truck and rap the starter with a hammer a few times! 4out 5 times this will get it to crank. It might be the only time it does this or it might fail every few starts then it is time for another starter! Like I said I do this all the time at work. From P/Us to fork trucks to Macks you might get one more start out of to get it to the shop to change starter or get home some late night! Good Luck!
