hey i have been having problems lately with motor stalling 4 no apparantly no reason i replaced my pmd with anew one from walt less than 2 years ago so i thought i was safe with the new one i installed it on his heat sync where they said to on the intake man. then started getting symptons of failure i bought a remote BBQ temp sensor routed the probe through my firewall placed it btween fins on heat sync. and went 4 a ride thewithin 15 min. the heat was up to 116 F this is march in alberta canada temp. outside temp was app. minus 10 to minus 15 cwas very surprised wonder how high it would be in july or aug looks like maybe i should be looking for a better and more reliable PMD.

Is your PMD a Stanadyne? There is an alternative rated for higher temperatures, and SSDS has been using it about 18 months I think, so you may have been unfortunate to have recieved a Stanadyne unit that can't stand up to 200* engine temps.

ya maybe but if ssd were selling the new ones knowing the old ones were failing maybe someone there should have been smart enough to STOP selling them.would save people alot os grief if this is true it will sure make me think twice about buying anything from them again.

You probably just got one before they switchover, which coincides with when the warranty doubled too.

I unfortunately bought a Stanadyne unit from Diesel Injection in Cincinnati, Oh. in February! My NEXT one will be from SS Diesel Supply!

Checkout the PMD price at Pensacola Diesel, Florida. They sell the newer D-Tech version for a really good price. The also sell via E-Gay.

You should use something like Arctic Silver for best heat transfer. Just a thin layer on the whole thing, too much can actually cause it to be non ideal, but not bad. You dont need to put the thermal grease over the 2 transistor covers in the middle.

Clean the surfaces pretty good with some acetone before applying the thermal grease and mating them.
