I finally got time to find my oil leak. I cleaned the engine very well and and let it get to temp. I could not find any leaks. I took it for a series of short runs and really pushed the turbo..........well I found the leak. It is coming from the dipstick jimmy. No puffing at idle or undr throttle only when the turbo is spooled. Could it be the cdr???
The engine runs good and has about 70k on a rebuild no oilsmoke or blowby at idle HELP

What do you mean by the dipstick jimmy? Oil is coming out of the dipstick tube while the dipstick is in?

yep,
No blow by at idle or under throttle but if you drive the druck and put it under boost it starts coming out of the dipstick tube with the dipstick in.
there is not a tight seal on the dip stick and tube are these supposed to be tight?
Again my leak only occurs under boost and I am loosing a LOT of OIL.

Have you had the intake manifold off recently? I think that the manifold gasket covers an oil gallery on the head. I'm just a beginer so i could be way off, but that would explain why there is excessive blowby when there is boost pressure.

Thats crazy, and this just started out of the blue or after any modifications? What is your oil pressure at idle and under load?
If youre getting it out of there you must not be getting pressure where youre supposed to.
Have you changed the oil filter recently or remove the bypass so that oil might not flow through when pressure gets too high.

I have owned the truck for a year. It has always had a small leak but it has slowly gotten worse. My oil press is around 40lbs. All I have done to the truck is regular maintence and drive it. I know the guy who built the motor but I do not know any other history of the truck.
On a side note the cdr pipe that connects to the valvecover looks like it should fit tighter than it does it is almost like it is too short and does not seal very well.
The leak definatly appears to be coming from the dipstick. It is wet and there is splattering blowing back and to the center from that location. I will double check and make sure that I do not have a cracked valve cover.
Thanks for all of the help

Sounds like the CDR valve is not letting the crank case pressure out, they do fail.

You can replace it or just find one like from an old muscle car, just a little air filter looking thing that will allow gasses to vent. It would seem more likely that the valve cover gasket would have a small worn spot.

Leak found and fixed. Thanks guys for the help.
The previous owner installed the cdr in backwards. It was venting open at idle and closing under boost thus pressurizing the crankcase.
This is the first truck I have owned and didnt know any better. After removing the cdr I noticed the big THIS SIDE UP sticker on it and did a little recearch and then installed it correctly.
Thanks again for the help now off to re-locate the pmd. Any suggestions on a place to remount it?
