This might sound off the wall and insane but i figured i might as well ask.

I'm having trouble getting oil into and out of my turbo on my 6.2, it seems like it might just be easier to run my atf from the trans cooler lines through the turbo then through the oil cooler then back to the trans. Is this death for my trans or turbo? or does the idea carry some weight?

Also since my aux oil port on my 6.2 is nicely rounded off i was thinking about just tapping a line off of my oil coolers return or supply line. would this work? or should i just go about getting that plug installed and getting the oil from the proper location? I'm probably going to get a cheap 1/4" drive extension and weld it to the plug to get it out since its stripped. any other ideas?

`I think that is a 1/4" pipe plug if so I would use a 3/8" left hand drill bit. Put the drill in reverse and start drilling as the bit removes stock it removes pressure from the threads the bit grabs the plug and backs it out. They work slick! I use them all the time! Good Luck!

thanks for the suggestion, I think im going to try it this weekend, only thing isnt 3/8" a littlebig?wouldent i want like a 5/16" bit instead? i want to make sure i dont damage those threads. what is the drill size for a 1/4" npt tap?

any suggestions on where to get the left hand bits on line? the only place by me that sells them is grainger and i dont hve an account. I saw a kit at sears with some of those extractors and right handed drill bits but the idea of drilling a right handed hole seems counter productive.

7/16" is the tap drill size 1/4"NPT thats why I said 3/8" you have to be centered in the plug. You could try 5/16" but I would go with 3/8". A good auto parts store like NAPA has them in there tool catalog or a tool truck like Snap On , Mac, Matco etc.
