im lost with this diesel

ok so heres my problem. i really dont know anything about my 6.5 other than it wont start. its in a 2000 gmc 3500hd with only 92000 on it. i recently replaced the turbo and the truck has been going great until today i was driving down the road got cut off, and well you know how it is..... i got carryed away and hit the gas when i did that the truck just cut out... i check all the fuses and relays and got it to fire up for a minute but it just raced to 2000 rpms on its own and shut back down. i am some what mechanically inclined but realy only know gas engines. any thoughts of how i can get my truck running would be great. i am sure the answers already here but not really knowing what im looking for i didnt know where to begin. anyways thanks for any help you can give.

It may have sucked air into the fuel, or the throttle sender unit may have failed. Did a "service throttle light" come on while it was running?

Perhaps a PMD failure or internal damage of the IP. Broken piston amature inside sounds similar.

I would bet on PMD. I have had two that have failed that way
