hey guys, my f-350 superduty is making a funny noise. If im coasting and my foot is off of the clutch..coming down in rpm's the truck makes a funny clicking noise from the front left wheel or right wheel. when i step on the gas again, it goes away. Im thinkin maybee a throw out bearing?

A throw out bearing would usually make noise when you disengage the clutch, you said you coast and don't touch the clutch pedal.I suspect you may have a ujoint or a cv joint or a bearing in the wheel,if that is where sound is coming from. I assume you are in two wheel drive and hubs are disengaged? Throw out bearing noise can be real noticeable when you are sitting at a stop and push in clutch while in neutral. Also wheel bearing noises will get louder when you steer in one direction but be quiet when you steer the opposite way. Loose lug nuts can make a clicking noise if the rim is sliding on the stud holes. I have had rims loosen on the F550 I used to drive,it had the hub piloted style lugnuts. plowking

im sorry, coasting was the wrong word. i meant to say in gear and not touching the gas pedal.just having the truck rev down in gear, it makes the noise.

Hey do you have factory wheels ?
Or
After market wheels ?
Rather wheels that have center caps?
I have a center cap on the F350 at work that only seems to while slowing down...

there shouldn't be any power going to the front end if the thing is in 2wd, so throttle shouldn't affect axles and such. My guess is the noise may be coming from elsewhere and just sounds like it's the front axles.
Letting off the throttle...
maybe carrier or u-joints in driveline.
I'm probably way off.:(

...got a dual mass flywheel????? drop the dust cover and check for loose springs on flywheel...when torqued up -power on- load is on springs... when pushing-power off rear end pushing driveline-tension on springs go slack and bounce and make a clicking noise...if you have a d/m flywhl you can replace it with a regular flywhl/clutch kit.....
