Here are some pics from my bad engine from International Diesel Ltd. The cracked cylinder is #7 and the pitted piston is #8. They tell me its not covered under warranty due to overheating. This engine was crap from day one. It pressured the cooling system eversince its was started on day one and this is what it looks like after 100 miles. The engine appears to be bored .060 which was never disclosed at the time of purchase. Beware of empty promises and a warranty not worth the paper its printed on. This place is a fraud. I would expect a replacement or refund from them. They just tell me its not there problem however they did offer to sell me a replacement at full price. But they would do me a favor and not charge me for the core! Can you believe that? Looks like its time to fire up the attorney. Can't get the pics to upload. Does any one know how to shrink the file so that it will work on this forum? Also does anyone know if there is a difference between BOSCH and Lucas injectors? This high quality rebuild came with six Lucas and two Bosch. At least they put all the head bolts back in. They could have saved a few more $$ and just used half of them!!! What a joke

Using the old headbolts is BS and the lucas injectors are crap. The bosch ones are the best, but only if the inside needle is stamped "germany" and not mexcio or india.

The problem comes back to the fact that this is a reman engine, and as such most major components are also used/reman. Depending on whether you get a short, long, or drop-in, bet on the fact that the block, heads, injectors, IP, and turbo are all Remanned. I know for a fact that Int'l Diesel overbores the block and goes under-size on the crank, uses used heads that are remanned, reground cam, remanned injectors (mix-and-match), a rebuilt IP, and turbo. When I was weighing my options last spring, I talked to Eric at Int'l about their drop-in remans, and if I could get new heads on it (no), if injectors were new/avail (no), and what all they did to their remanned drop-ins.

That is when I decided to replace both heads on my current (224K) block with new ones, and do all the upgrades to the engine (marine inj, cooling upgrade, chip, exhaust, intake, etc. for the price of a short block from Int'l.

What happened to Shooter is crap. Go back to my previous posts for my take on why they (Int'l) are acting the way they are over this incident. There is NO WAY that that damage was caused by initial start-up. I've seen the hi-res photos of the damage that Shooter e-mailed me. That reman was assembled with a cracked block to start with, the whole thing was a lemon. Remember, he had to get a new IP from SSDS to get the motor to run, as the "reman" that came with it was non-operational!!

Still waiting on the verdict from International Diesel LTD. on why they bored a old casting 6.5 block >060 over and sold it to me as a reman engine. Actually my state senator is investigating the matter. Hoping to get some $$$$ back. Anyway anybody have a good place to get an engine? I want a new AMG block this time. Talked with Peninsular and Diesel Depot. Both seemed quite knowledgeable but neither seem to be in any real hurry to get me a price quote.

I found a place up in Canada (Edmonton, AB, I think) on a sponsor link on E-bay Motors when I was looking at 6.5 Suburbans 2/28 (Before the nasty blizzard). They sell NEW short blocks that have thicker cylinder walls, main webs, and beefier main caps. Comes with NEW crank, rods, and pistons. Don't remember if they have long blocks or prices. I'll see if I can find it again and PM you the info.

International Diesel LTD is AKA International Diesels INC. The better business bureau has a file on both having the same web site.. Possibly a bait and switch tactic to shake the bad BBB reputation. Anyone heard anything about PROMARengine dot com 6.5TD long blocks?
