File size and pics

Does the file type actually determine how large it is.JPEGs and whatever?

The file type has an effect on how big it is, JPG is one of the smallest and this site lets jpgs be larger for posting, but what really matters is the picture size and quality. bmp is one of the largest because it doesn't shrink the data, and it only has one quality. There was another post on here real recently that was talking about how to resize pictures for posting. If I can find it I'll post the address.
