That fresh 6.5 motor in the banner heading has captured my eye for a while so I finally clicked on it...
Nice engine.
Why dose the mechanical 6.5 make 200hp n 440tq and
The electronically operated 6.5 only make 190hp n 385tq...
It appears there the same bloody engine ?
Can my electronic 6.5 be turned up to the power of the mechanical unit ?

#9 resistor in the PMD could get you 205 hp.

I'm not worried about the horse power I want the 440-460 torque.
I did the intake exhaust and the resister and my rig is still a dog under load...
Is there a difference in the 2 motors ?
Would I gain power by swapping my electo 6.5 for the mech 6.5 ?
I wished I had the 440tq as the 380tq- 385tq don't seem to be cutting it...

I watched a 5.9 12 v get the timing retarded slightly yesterday.I rode in it before and after as a passenger. The boost went up 3 or so lbs and the midrange tq felt earlier.Wonder if this would work on ours. His stack went from gry/black to black but it felt much better.Kinda made me miss a mechanical truck.......my 5.9 is all sensors ect....as for DS/DB series pumps,I had a 97 or a 98 1 ton sw for a couple months(a gm mechanic friend asked if it ran good,I replied yes,he said sell it now) it ran awesome.I towed once with it,11k like it wasnt even there. It did however have 4:10s

So then your saying if I ditched the electronics for mechanical I would more then likely gain some power ?

That 97 or 8,I have had so many vehicles...was electronic..and pulled awesome ...programming i assume...I prefer mechanical injection as I like to tinker.an allen wrench and watch the mirror for smoke.Mine responded very well to 1/4 turn but still wouldnt pull what that 1 ton would

Now that I have the dozen issues repaired just continue running my current setup then ?
Say can the timing be advanced on my electro IP ?

So is there any freebies or cheap mods I can do to my truck for better performance ?

Timing adv will increase mpg slightly, but will cause EGTs to lower which means less boost which leads to.......

Which leads to.... Less POWER ?
I'm guessing...
I wouldn't mind turning my 20mpg truck into a 15mpg truck for some more grunt.
All I want is enough extra grunt so I can throw 1500lbs in the bed hitch 3000lbs behind it and head north rolling 68-72mph and pull a few hills without straining hard.
I was told i already have 4.10 gears but it sure don't seem to pull like i have them tho it pulls like i got some 3.42's or 3.08's in it, But i'm running 70mph@2,600rpm in OD 60mph@3,000rpm in DD. . .which seems about right for 4.10's n 30" tires. . .

Timing in the Electronic pumps is controlled by the computer and set by the chip in 94-95. That is one of the main things the chip changes to get more power. It only gives a little more fuel, these pumps can only push so much.

can said pump be replaced with a pump that can push more ?
I like the kit SSD has for these trucks but i already have every thing but the chip n gauges. . .
I'm not spending a grand for an 80hp chip, can this chip be had separately and at what cost ?

I'll sell my mech pump and lines for $600.00. Course you gotta find throttle stuff. But no more PMD bullcrap, right?? Your foot finally connected to the engine instead of a computer deciding how much fuel you need??
I'll give up my GM-8 for 350.00.
